I.PURCHASING & PACKING INFORMATION
The giclees can be ordered online via PayPal.com or with AMEX, Visa or Mastercard. If you wish to make other arrangements for payment for the giclees, please contact the artist.
To purchase Original paintings, please contact the artist.
All Giclee Prints and Original Paintings are shipped flat. Each print or painting is first placed in an acid-free archival polyester bag, which can be used for safe storage until the work is framed. The artwork is then laid between two rigid panels of a high density compressed wood fiber, (hardboard), which assures maximum protection against damage by either bending or puncture, and is then placed inside a heavy weight cardboard mailer, which provides added protection.
INSURANCE: All items are insured for their full value against damage or loss before shipment, and this cost is included in the charges for shipping and handling.
II.SHIPPING & HANDLING INFORMATION
We want to assure your satisfaction with your purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase you may return it for a full refund, less return shipping and insurance charges.
Return shipment of artwork must be dated within ten days of receipt, and should be sent to Harrison Howard Designs in undamaged condition. ALL ORIGINAL PACKAGING should be saved and used for any returns that are made.
The customer WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for all return shipping and insurance charges, UNLESS artwork is received damaged by the customer. If FedEx detects damage to a shipment in transit, that shipment is returned to the shipper before being delivered to the customer. In this unlikely event we will notify you immediately. However, if a customer detects damage caused by mishandling AFTER receipt of shipment, all original packaging and the artwork must be returned to FedEx, who will submit these items to their claims department. In this circumstance, please contact FedEx immediately at 1-800-GO-FEDEX to have your shipment picked up by FedEx.
Harrison Howard Designs will replace any item, which is damaged during shipment. In the case of original artwork, which cannot be replaced, a full refund will be given.
PLEASE NOTE: Any items determined by FedEx claims to have been damaged under the possession of the customer rather than during shipment, cannot be refunded or replaced by Harrison Howard Designs.
Giclee prints have rapidly become a major presence in the world of fine art printing, joining the ranks of limited edition lithography and serigraphy. Of these three printing methods, the giclee process has gained considerable popularity very rapidly for two significant reasons. First, the giclee process can replicate work in either water base or oil mediums on such a wide variety of paper and canvas, and with such subtlety, that it often becomes almost impossible to distinguish the print from the original. Second, the nature of giclee printing allows artists to print as little as one print at a time, unlike either lithography or serigraphy, making it an economically accessible process to many artists, who would otherwise be unable to reproduce their work. At the same time, that economic benefit can be directly passed on to the buyer of a giclee. The appearance of a giclee print in terms of depth, color and texture cannot be surpassed by either lithography or serigraphy, if in fact it can be equaled.
Giclee printing is still a relatively new process, the first experiments with fine art giclees dating to 1989. There remains some controversy among art experts over the issue of the artistic integrity of digitally generated images, although this controversy appears to be diminishing. Both lithography and serigraphy created similar controversy in the early years of their development among gallery owners, museums, and private collectors. In spite of some current opposition to giclee printing because it is a digital process, the acceptance of giclee printing as a major participant in the realm of fine art printing is growing at a very rapid pace. Major contemporary artists such as David Hockney, Robert Rauschenburg, Jim Dine, and a host of others have started to produce digitally printed images. It should also be noted that much like a master lithographer, an accomplished giclee printer is highly skilled and very knowledgeable.
It must be pointed out that not all giclees are “equal”, and that the biggest obstacle with regard to the integrity of this printing method at present is a need for clearly defined and universal standards to establish levels of quality. Giclees can be printed with a variety of inks on a variety of surfaces using a variety of equipment, all of which determine the quality and appearance of the final print, and its longevity. The giclee prints available on this site were printed with a particular concern to conform to the highest possible standards available. They were printed on an Iris ink jet printer, widely considered by professional printers to produce the best giclee prints. For the purpose of printing giclees, the Iris printer is the most expensive equipment of its kind in the industry, and was also the first printer to do so.
Each of the giclees offered on this site have been individually inspected, signed and numbered by the artist, and include a dated and signed certificate of authenticity. Each print was produced on 285 gram Hahnemuhle inkjet watercolor paper, which is 100% acid free, with lysonic inks. The texture of the paper very closely resembles the watercolor paper on which the originals were painted, and is bright white to maximize the saturation and clarity of the colors. Every print has been sprayed with an archival acrylic coating, which helps to protect the print, and serves as a UV inhibitor. Accelerated tests have indicated that these giclees will last 28 to 32 years before any fading might be detected, if handled properly. This type of longevity compares very favorably with that of original work on paper in a variety of other mediums, and certainly with most other printing methods.
All works on paper, including these giclees, should only be handled with clean hands, and as little as necessary. They should never be hung in direct sunlight, or under unfiltered fluorescent light. These giclees should never come in direct contact with water on either side of the paper, and it is advisable that they be framed professionally, using an archival backing, and in particular, spacers that will separate the surface of the print from direct contact with the glass. It is a standard practice in frame shops to use spacers for framing works on paper, which are under glass, but it is a good precaution to specify that you want spacers, just in case. The spacers separate the print from the glass by roughly 1/8 inch. This practice prevents any possible condensation that might build up under the glass from ever touching the print.
